SUMMER MAINTENANCE ROOF TIPS
Updated: Jun 6, 2020
Summer is a time for pool parties, BBQs, fireworks, trips to the beach and Vacations. Summer is the best season to some people, BUT we can all agree summers bring a lot of heat and higher electric bills. There are a four things you can do to prepare your home for the grueling summer heat and help keep your home cooler.
The attic is one of the biggest contributing factors to keeping your home cool during the summer heat and can easily reach temperatures of 150 degrees during the peak of summer when not properly insulated and maintained, which can make your air conditioning work much harder.
Here are four tips to make sure your attic and roof are ready for the summer heat:
1. Make sure drains and roof gutters are clean and clear of debris – Gutters with debris cause flooding on your roof and can lead to major damage if not addressed immediately.
2. Make sure exhaust vents are working properly – Making sure your attic is properly ventilated by allowing cold air to flow freely as well as allowing the hot air to leave the attic; this will lower the temperature of the entire house.
3. Check for small signs of damage in the attic and roof – Small signs can turn into large problems if not monitored or treated properly. If you’re unsure, give us a call and AWS Roofing, the Best Roofing Company in Volusia County, will come out and professionally inspect your roof.
4. Look for missing, damaged and loose shingles – Damaged, loose or missing shingles can be an early indicator your roof may be in need of major repair or replacement.
